WHERE IS YOUR HUMANITY?

My second #artactivism post in the last few weeks.

This one is also for Seek.Gather.Create hosted by Tina Hois, Lisa Goddard & Laura Denison. The 3rd week Guest host here is Erin Bishop!

Supplies:

This piece is built on a vintage time card – which seems very appropriate for the message. There’s some collage in the background with a bit of gelli printed tissue & then black paint in brush strokes. I then folded the library pocket from the UmWow Captured cuts package & glued it to the back.

The doll herself is made of collaging ephemera, some stitching, a vintage photo (RAB members have access to this!) marking making… all the good stuff! Her wings are stencil bits from the shop secured to the back of the paper doll. The wings have metallic (GOLD!) watercolor on them to create a pattern… making the eucalyptus scraps feel more  like wings.

Her message is typed via typewriter on a scrap of vintage ephemera. I knew the words would blend into the background too much, so i stroke some black paint & anchored the words on top.

The pocket is so thick & great! I’m really excited about expanding this line. Let me know what YOU think of it! I drew with a micron on the pocket & then glued an old needle wrapper to the top.
