The theme for 2026 is COLLABORATION, so be prepared to share, collaborate, and inspire others as you work on your books.  You will leaving the retreat with three (3) books and we’ll explore the concept of an artist book, explore our definitions of the same and why these are so much more than an art journal. We invite you to share in the discovery of why book making makes our creative hearts full.

Prerequisites: Must have basic mixed media and bookmaking experience.  This is a technique building workshop.

Compendium: /kəmˈpendēəm/ a collection of things, commonly found in books and writings. Join mixed media artists Tina Walker & DeeDee Catron & GUEST ARTST AIMEE IREL! for a 4-day weekend filled with making, building, and constructing handmade artist books, from a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials.  You’ll work pages, structures, bindings, closures & more, leaving the retreat with three plus (3+) books tucked neatly into a hand-built bookcase. We’ll explore the concept of an artist book, explore our definitions of the same and why these are so much more than an art journal. We invite you to share in the discovery of why book making makes our creative hearts full.

Registration fee includes some shareable supplies, drinks & snacks, and FOUR DAYS OF AWESOMENESS.

Each artist may have a supply fee of up to $25.

Small Print

-Payments made (minus the original $200 non-refundable deposit) between your registration payment and June 1, 2026 are refundable.
-Cancellation after June 1, 2026 (midnight EST): no refunds
-No refunds will be issued for your personal travel expenses, such as accommodations, flights, buses, trains, etc.
-If we cancel the event, due to unseen circumstances, a FULL refund will be issued.

Please note: 

The entrance to the venue is located on the bottom level of a
multi-purpose building.  The location is not accessible via an elevator or other entry. It is only accessible via steps located on the outside of the building via wide, gradual incline/decline steps. 
We can assist with carrying your supplies
down/up into the venue as needed.
